Rained Out

For all of you who wait anxiously for the weekend baseball results, we are sorry to disappoint you but we were rained out! We did scrimmage Friday night and won easily. Next games are Sunday in Lakeland and then we are off for Easter. Never fear, since we couldn't play baseball we went bowling instead! That too was great fun and pretty competitive (why play if you can't win!). TR did really well for not bowling in a while, with a 3 game total of 531. I managed 250 for the first two games and had a 118 in the third game when our lane was shut off with two frames left to bowl.

In other happenings, the squirrels are driving TR nuts (literally)! Since we live a neighborhood, last year he broke down and bought a humane catch & release trap. This seemingly worked well as he managed to catch several, taking them down the road aways and setting them free. However, a couple of weeks ago the lawn guy came to spray and must have let the squirrel that was in the cage out. Ever since then, no squirrels have been caught in the cage and to make things even better they appear to be taunting TR! It's been quite hysterical. Never fear, on his latest trip to Bass Pro, he bought a pellet gun (only to miss yesterday). We'll see who wins.....

The boys were out of school on Friday, so Thursday night we had a house full - four boys total. They had a great time and we laughed lots at them! They were able to come to the office on Friday for the Astros vs Phillies game. Brock caught 2 foul balls and I think they all managed to get a few autographs. Bradley hoping to score more points with his teacher who is from Philly, will present Mrs. Myers with his autographed ball at school this week.

TR also got his new to him boat this week. Let's hope we have good luck scalloping this summer.

Here are a few more pics from this weekend.

Braves Win Their First Tournament Championship

Okay - so I am a little behind but we have GREAT NEWS!!!!! The Braves won their first tournament championship this weekend - way to go boys! They all played amazing and it was a total team effort. After going 1-1 in pool play, we arrived at the park early for a 9:00 am game yesterday. All I said all week long was that I didn't care if they lost both on Saturday as long as we finally won one game on Sunday since we just haven't been able to do that. On Saturday, our boys only struck out at the plate twice during the first game and three times during the second game so we expected our hitting to be good. Although we started a little slow at the plate Sunday morning, amassing 9 strikeouts during the first game, they quickly came back into form, winning their first game. I knew at that point they would be hard to beat - our pitching staff was in fine form, even though Bradley and Carlos would only be able to throw a couple of inning the rest of the day, we had several pitchers that still had all of their innings available. The boys came out strong in the second game and turned it on even more during the Championship game. We even won a berth to the State Championship Tournament.

We definitely had a great weekend with lots of fun & laughs. Saturday we arrived at the park to watch Brock's brother, Briar play with his 11U team Osceola Gators. This was their first tournament and unfortunately they went 0-3. The Braves then played two games - we left the park in search of dinner and to check-in at our hotel, along with the Barber and Roe families, and then went back to the park for Briar's last game at 8:00 pm. Sunday found us at the park all day - which no one complained about - and then we went out for a celebratory dinner. We finally arrived home at about 9 last night and we can't wait to do it again!

Braves Win Two in Beverly Hills

Whew - another fun filled week in Florida. TR traveled to Tennessee last Wednesday, missing the home opener for Spring Training which was Wednesday. He made it home on Friday, just in time for baseball practice. The boys were a little off - tending to play around too much and giving us a few worries for our upcoming games on Sunday. Saturday found us at the Astros-Pirates game, with Bradley and his friend Briar in tow. The boys had a great time getting autographs - even making sure to get some for Carson & Brock who were unable to come due to their little league game that afternoon. We did make it back in time for most of Brock & Carson's game which they won easily (even though they really don't keep score).

The Braves traveled two hours on Sunday to Beverly Hills, Florida to play the Inverness Crackers. Bradley took the mound for the first game, pitching three of the four innings that were played and leading his team to an 18-5 win. He was three for four during this game with one single and two doubles all to the outfield. Carson hit an in-the-park homerun with a screamer down the right-field line. This was followed by a hilarious moment in the outfield with Carson chasing his wind blown hat, while an errantly thrown ball is heading into centerfield - Carson is totally oblivious as the play is over before he can turn around! We all got a great laugh out of that one (which was really easy to do since we had such a lead).

During the second game, Bradley caught for two innings and then moved to the outfield. This game he was an RBI machine - going four for four and driving in the game ending run with a triple as the Braves routed the Crackers 21-11. It definitely was a very cold game and we were happy to get in the warm vehicles for the long ride home.
